The Center of Campus Life

Colorado State University

Lory Student Center

Perkins+Will and its Branded Environments team identified 11 key “brand story” elements that convey the history of the Center, provide opportunities for donor and other recognition, and capture the spirit and unique essence of the CSU campus. This framework allowed the University to prioritize project expenditures, and enabled development of fundraising tools. The approach also resulted in a flexible master plan for the initial project installation and a roadmap for adding elements in the future. The ensuing design by Perkins+Will turns the University’s emblems and team colors into a vibrant source of energy that permeates the Center.

From preliminary involvement in cost estimating, value-engineering and design detail analysis, Xibitz was instrumental in project planning, enabling a smooth and efficient move into fabrication and installation of informative and inspiring displays.

One of my most favorite parts of the new building is the amount of pride that a student can feel walking into it – from the Ram Head installation, to the Land-Grant wall and Research wall on the third floor, you can feel how invested students, sta˛, and faculty are in making this building feel like the home for students.

—Brandon Majmudar, 2015 Chair LSC Governing Board

[Designed to energize.

After 50 years and 20,000 people a day, it was time to renovate the Lory Student Center inside and out. New mechanical systems and an updated building envelope earned a Gold LEED rating. The new branding design from Perkins+Will aims to energize everyone who passes through.]

    Let’s Talk

CSU Research Wall

The CSU Research Wall has four sections containing direct-printed panels with original art by John Gravdahl (CSU artist) and monitors that put a spotlight on CSU researchers, projects, awards, events, and donors on a rotating basis.

CSU Ram's Head Sculpture, green, white, acrylic

A CSU Ram logo made from 4,200 clear acrylic rods suspended from a disc 12 feet in diameter floats over those who gather to engage in educational, cultural and recreational activities.

CSU, Abraham Lincoln, Land Grant Wall

The Lory Student Center’s Land Grant Wall is a tribute to The Morril Act of 1862 passed by President Abraham Lincoln to create the nation’s land-grant university system. Custom-perforated aluminum panels showcase direct-printed historical images.
