When WPP leaders consolidated five different divisions of creative company Team Detroit under one roof, they needed an especially artistic touch to maintain the unique identity of each agency.
They called on Gensler architects and Xibitz to produce five separate operating spaces for each of the marketing agency giants – JWT, GroupM, Ogilvy & Mather, Wunderman, and Young & Rubicam – with collaboration-inducing common areas.
Drawing inspiration from the creative nature of advertising and the character of Michigan, Gensler’s design stripped existing suburban office space down to a shell to gain ceiling height and a more loft-like feel. While each space evokes a different brand personality and production approach for its respective agency, common areas and entrances reflect local Michigan culture.
Xibitz assisted with the design development and produced and installed many of the facility’s unique elements. Crafted solutions include a fabric-covered thought bubble meeting room, custom glass and felt-clad reception desks, “Air Stream” trailer conference rooms, and walls made out of communication cables.
The results change the way the agencies operate, collaborate and produce solutions, creating a true cross-agency community.
