Even healthcare enterprises like hospitals need branding – the distinctive personality and the expressions that communicate it to identify an organization’s uniqueness.
When Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center sought to create a holistic experience through an integrated branded environment, it decided to do so through public art and interactive features that create a patient- and family-focused experience.
To this end, Kolar Design re-designed public areas to make them more user-friendly and inspire a sense of nurturing and healing. For example, visitors to the hospital’s Translational Research Building are greeted by a curving wall of colorful, lighted scientific images of cells and microbes that literally provide a picture of the hospital’s many research ventures.
Kolar chose Xibitz as its partner in developing this experiential space in The Heart Institute Clinic, Newborn Intensive Care Unit, and Transitional Care Center.
The result is an experience of which Healthcare Design said, “Waiting appears to be a wonderful oasis for children and their families. The color palette, materials and environmental graphics reinforce wayfinding and create a supportive setting for healing.”
